This may be one of three things:

1. Most crimes committed are never reported to the police. So, unless a crime is reported by someone in the community, we have no way of knowing since the primary source for our data is through the police department.

2. Not all calls for service result in a completed police report. Depending on whether the responding police department adds calls for service, or just completed reports in their crime feed, is a big factor in whether a crime will get on our map.

3. Certain sensitive crimes are not displayed on our map in order to protect the privacy of the victims. Additionally, information regarding an ongoing investigation may not be released, so as not to affect the investigative process.
